Morango Cremoso: A Brazilian Strawberry Dream

This chilled Brazilian-inspired dessert blends the sweetness of ripe strawberries with the creamy richness of sweetened milk and a touch of honey. Perfect for a light yet decadent lunch on a warm day, this dish offers a sophisticated twist on familiar flavors.

Ingredients

  • 1 pint fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons honey, plus extra for drizzling
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Optional garnish: fresh mint leaves, toasted coconut flakes

Method

  1. Prepare the Strawberries: In a blender or food processor, combine half of the strawberries with the milk, cream, honey, vanilla extract, and salt. Blend until smooth and creamy.
  2. Combine and Chill: Gently fold in the remaining halved strawberries to the strawberry cream mixture. Divide the mixture evenly between two serving glasses.
  3. Chill: Cover the glasses with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until thoroughly chilled.
  4. Serve: Before serving, drizzle a little extra honey over each serving. Garnish with fresh mint leaves and toasted coconut flakes, if desired. Serve immediately.

Chef's Note

For a richer flavor, try using sweetened condensed milk instead of honey. If you want a smoother texture, blend all of the strawberries in step 1. You can also add a splash of orange juice for a brighter flavor.
